If you want to see sea in Japan? 城ヶ島(Jougashima) is one of the answer.

 In previous post, I talked about my trip to Gunma. The day one /The day two

In this post, I'll talk about 城ヶ島(Jou-ga-shima) that is one of the tourist area in Kanto region.

You can see sea in Jougashima.

Summary

Jougashima is a island connected by a bridge in Kanto region.

Jougashima is located the tip of Miura Peninsula.

Jougashima is a popular sea landscape, but 江ノ島(Enoshima) is more popular than.

In Jougashima we can eat tuna because it is local speciality. Port of 三崎(Misaki) region including Jougashima is base of pelagic fishing.


Jougashima is in Kanto region.

Jougashima is about this area.


How to go to Jougashima and other info
You can go to Jougashima by bus or car.
The bus leaves from 三崎口駅(Misakiguchi-station).
Misakiguchi station is end station of 京浜急行(Keihin-Kyuko, it is called 京急"Keikyu" for short). The station is full of travel because I feel the time is stopping for 30years at the station with small rotary and kiosk for tourist. I like the country station.

But I have no station photo because I went to Jougashima by bike for this visit.
Someday I will upload the photo.

Jougashima is written 城ヶ島 in Japanese.城 is a castle. Some reason is claimed.
One of the simple reason is there was a castle. Another one is times made a Kanji character with a different readings.
ヶ don't makes much sense. Speaking of, it means "of".
島 means island. 
In short, 城ヶ島 means castle of island. But the island don't have castle.
 

Local speciality at Jougashima
In Jougashima we can eat tuna sashimi and young sardine.
Because it is local speciality. Port of 三崎(Misaki) region including Jougashima is base of pelagic fishing.
We ate 漬けマグロと釜揚げシラス丼(dsuke-magro and kamaage-shirasu don) at かねあ(Kanea).

漬けマグロ means pickled tuna with soy sorce and mirin(Japanese sweet sake).
I often make dsukemaguro too, it's popular for my friend.
釜揚げシラス means boiled young sardine.
In this sentence, 釜揚げ is boiled but it means to take out from big kettle in literal translation.If you use the word boil in Japanese, you should use the word 茹でる(yuderu).

Young sardine is usually eaten by boiled or raw. Raw sardine is offered when there was fishing of young sardine. Young sardine perishable and they are local speciality at 三浦(Miura) or 江ノ島(Enoshima) or other region near by the sea.
Of course, young sardines grow sardine and a young sardine is small to eat.
But young sardine is delicious and even people who don't like sardines because of their fishy smell may like young sardine.

Red fish is pickled tuna. White is young sardine.
Others are miso soup and pickles.
Tatami style is calmed down me.

Kanea equipped with a chair too.

We lined up for about 20 minutes.

Kanea had wide selection.
You can use 三崎まぐろ切符(Misaki-Maguro-Kippu, Misaki tuna ticket, it is sold at Keikyu station and the ticket offer you transportation and meals at Misaki) at Kanea.

馬の背洞門(umanose-doumon, back of a horse cave gate)
After meals, we walk at coast.
Many lives on the rocky shore. Crab, shellfish, hermit crab, or fish are.
You can fish there. You can see largescale blackfish.

Pacific Ocean.


We arrived at umanose-doumon. There is popular spot of rocks carved by waves.
Wedding photo was taken there.


Jougashima face Pacific Ocean and you can play there. There is nice area.
